Sandpit on Understanding the Physics of Cancer

Following our successful Focussed Workshop on the Physics of Cancer, we are organising a Sandpit event that is designed to provide an opportunity for researchers to come together and think in a very focussed way about opportunities for funding. The Sandpit is supported by EPSRC and Cancer Research UK, and our aim is to bring together physicists, clinicians and cancer biologists to form partnerships to develop cross-disciplinary research proposals. The Sandpit will run for slightly more and one day, beginning with lunch on February 16 and ending in mid-afternoon on February 17.

Purpose

This is a networking event designed to stimulate the formation of new collaborative partnerships between physicists, clinicians and cancer biologists leading to the submission of research proposals to CRUK, EPSRC and other funders.

Who should attend?

We invite participation by academic staff as well as early and mid-career research fellows from clinical, physical and life science departments in the UK who are interested in the central goal of generating new collaborative research interactions at the physical/life sciences interface focussed on cancer.

Registration

This sandpit event is heavily subsidised by the Network, and the full registration fee of only £75 includes lunch on both days and dinner, bed and breakfast on 16 February. Registration for delegates is now closed.

The conference is due to start at 12.30pm for registration and lunch on the 16 February, and close at 4pm on 17 February.
